Do I have to pay tax on veterans life insurance proceeds?

Veterans life insurance proceeds and dividends are not taxable either to the veterans or to their beneficiaries. This is also true of the proceeds of a veterans’ endowment policy paid before death. Interest on insurance dividends you leave on deposit with the Veterans Administration is not taxable on your tax return.
