If any IRS publication refers you to
another IRS publication you can select it from our IRS Publications List
by clicking here.
It takes a few minutes for Adobe
Acrobat .pdf
documents
to open. During that time your screen will appear as a blank white page.
Please be patient.
Note Regarding IRS
documents: When IRS documents are converted
into Adobe Acrobat .pdf
format the Adobe page numbers that you'll see in the Adobe Acrobat Reader
software program do not match the IRS
Publication page numbers. This is because the IRS does
not count the front cover and inside front cover as pages for numbering purposes.
Adobe counts and numbers all pages, including the front cover and inside
front cover.
Thus, when navigating IRS Publications, you should add two (2) pages to the page
numbers found in the IRS Publication Table of Contents or Index. For
example, to find the topic
you are looking for in IRS Publication 17 you can view the Table of Contents
in Adobe
Acrobat Reader page 2 or
the Index starting on Adobe page 271. Use Ctrl-N to go to a specific page.
Example: If you want to go to "Capital Gain Distributions" in
IRS Publication 17
on page 65, from the IRS Publication 17 Index on page 271 , hit Ctrl-N and enter 67. Then hit return.
You've thus added the two pages that Adobe added when the IRS document was
converted to Adobe Acrobat format.
