I received an IRS notice that's wrong. What should I do?

If you believe the IRS made a mistake with the tax figures, or didn't consider some important tax information, call the IRS at 1-800-829-8815 to discuss the tax matter. If possible have a copy of your tax return and the IRS tax notice when you call.

You may be able to avoid any tax penalties. See "What are the tax penalties and interest? Can they be avoided?".
